1. Why our clothes are stained.
If you see a stain on our top, chances are it is either a milk, puke, pee or poop stain. We have learnt to live with it. We hope you can too.
2. Why our clothes don’t match.
See point 1
3. Why some of us new mums pump milk at work.
The reason some of us use our precious break to pump breast-milk is not because we enjoy it. It is purely because we are responsible for a human being whose survival is dependent on the milk we produce. Get over it, and pass us a snickers will you?
4. Why family-friendly measures are important to us.
Babies and children sleep early. By 8 most kids are asleep so if you see a new mum (or a new dad) leaving work earlier than you, remember that.
5. Why we can still love our kids AND be ambitious.
Yes we love our kids and yes they mean absolutely everything to us, but we also value ourselves, our experience, financial independence and all we have worked and studied for.
6.Why we returned to work.
Our reason for returning back to work is none of your business. Whether it is for financial reasons, self-fulfillment or simply to keep us sane, it is none of your business, really, and you do not have the right to ask us why.
7. Why our time at work is usually the only “me-time” we get.
More often than not, us working mums sacrifice our personal time for time at work. So it could very well be that our time at work, is the only time we could manage to drink an entire HOT cup of coffee in one sitting. We have a right to savour it, thank you very much.
8. That most of us do actually cook, clean and are change their kids’ nappies.
Newsflash! Working mothers do not have a fairy godmother who is there to do all that needs to be done when they return home from work.
