My Name Tags has become a trusted name in the name-tag industry both in the UK, offering 100% water and wash-proof tags with free delivery to Malta.
The company, based in the UK, has just launched a new collection of name tags with a Maltese theme. The new Maltese designs are part of a campaign to celebrate the launch of a new online portal dedicated to the Maltese market, www.mynametags.com.mt.
Local designer, Lorinda Mamo was commissioned to design these new icons and My Name Tags will be donating 50% of sales from the entire Malta collection generated over a two month span to local NGO, Puttinu Cares.
We caught up with Lorinda Mamo – Wife, mother to 5 year old Henry, graphic designer, blogger, maker.
What was your inspiration behind the My Nametags designs?
I wanted to portray both colourful and iconic imagery and I was inspired greatly by my son’s love of the sea and the happiness that the summer brings.
Why was this design job special for you?
I have a great love for creating designs and items that will be used by children, but knowing that a percentage of sales will be going to a local charity that has recently helped my family made it that much more special to me.
My son was born with Prune Belly Syndrome (1 in 40,000 births) and Chronic Kidney Disease. We were told that if he survived, he would eventually need a kidney transplant, but there was no telling when that would be. Signs of renal failure began to appear as he turned 3 and the road to transplant began. Paediatric renal transplants are not performed locally and we needed to travel to the UK on several occasions. The local charity organisation, Puttinu, assists families like ours who need to travel and live in the UK for days or months. We were able to stay in a comfortable apartment in London provided by the charity while we were in the UK. We were able to spend time together as we took care of our son and while we waited through the weeks leading up to his transplant. The organisation was always helpful and supportive in a time when we needed it so much.
“I am so very happy to see such an initiative take place and I am honoured to be a part of it.” added Lorinda Mamo.
Originally founded in 2004, by Lars B. Andersen, out of a need to label his own children’s belongings, the company’s ambitions are to create the best name tags in the world. What started as a small 1-man company has now grown to a modest but dedicated team.
“We are very happy to support such a worthy cause as Puttinu Cares, during the launch of our dedicated site to Malta” said Lars B. Andersen, Managing Director at My Nametags. “The fact that the designer has reaped the benefits of the NGO we are supporting makes the story all the more special. We are very proud of our 100% water and wash-proof tags. We are happy to see that My Nametags has been well received in Malta and look forward to continuing to grow the market and provide the Maltese with an even better customer experience through our new Malta dedicated website.”
