It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Malta. Street Decorations are being lit, Christmas Trees are being set up and Christmas-themed events are popping up all over the island.
To make sure you don’t miss out, we have listed the top Child-Friendly Activities happening this December locally, featuring the best festive activities and events, from theatre shows and Christmas markets to pantomimes and parties.

1.St Edward’s College Christmas Village
3 December, St Edward’s College
Enjoy festive fun and shopping at the first Christmas Village organised by St Edward’s College. Entrance to the event will be free and we are proud to announce that part of the proceeds will be donated to The Malta Community Chest Fund. Those visiting the event will be able to enjoy various entertainment like carol singing, a bouncy castle and also children will be able to visit Santa Clause and take their photo with him.
2. Milied Fin-Naxxar
16 – 17 December, Pjazza Vittorja, Naxxar, NXR, Malta
This year’s Ir-Raħal fil-Milied will be held over two days, on the 16th and 17th December. Throughout these two days of activity at Pjazza Vittorja and the surrounding streets, there will be various attractions revolving around Christmas.
3. Christmas Season at Valletta Waterfront
1-31 December, Valletta Waterfront
Enjoy the Valletta Waterfront all decked out for Christmas and all its various festive activities. Throughout December, the whole family can stand in awe in front of a 35-foot Christmas tree, meet Santa, join in children’s animation and play games. There will also be various choirs, bands and acoustic sessions.
4. Lola’s Christmas Market
1-3 December, Villa Madama, Balzan
Three days of animation and entertainment for children and adults await you at Lola’s Christmas Market. Enjoy the cosy atmosphere and several lovely stalls selling all sorts of Christmas goodies and gifts.
5. Malta Horse Sanctuary Children’s Christmas Party
2 December, Malta Horse Sanctuary, Siggiewi
Treat your kids to a unique children’s Christmas party that includes a horse ride, horse grooming, food and drink, animation and even a gift! are lited
6. A Cosy Xmas Market by Malta Artisan Markets
2-3 December, Magazino Hall, Pinto Wharf, Floriana
Visit Malta Artisan Markets this festive season for a variety of stalls selling handmade arts and crafts, ceramics, woodworks, knitwear, jewellery, candles and Christmas treats. The Christmas edition will include children’s entertainment, face painting, choir singing and other activities.
7. Science of Christmas through Storytelling
3-17 December, Esplora Interactive Science Centre, Kalkara
8. The Magical Christmas Concert
7 December, Catholic Institute, Floriana
Combine Christmas with all your children’s favourite Disney characters and the Malta National Children’s Choir and you get the magical Christmas concert. Christmas songs will be performed to a lively rhythm to make people of all ages sing and dance. Expect also spectacular visuals, synchronised lights and continuous animation.
9. Christmas Carol Concert
7 December, Knisja San Mark – Agostinjani Rabat
The Annual Christmas Carol Concert at St Mark’s Church in Rabat includes music and readings … but also minced pies and mulled wine! Get into the Christmas spirit with some traditional Christmas tunes.
10. Christmas Pop Up Shop
7 December, Camarata, Valletta
They promise mince pies, mulled wine and Christmas gifts with a bit more attitude … aren’t you curious? Farmer’s Deli and MGO Manuka Malta will also be part of this, so go shop around and enjoy a Christmas cheers (or two!)
11. Natalis Notabilis 2017 – Malta’s Christmas Village
7-12 December, Natalis Notabilis, Rabat
Explore Rabat’s historic core transformed into a Christmas wonderland throughout six days. It will include Malta’s largest Christmas market with over 80 stalls and activities such as the Nativity Trail at the Franciscan Friary’s Secret Garden, the Natalis Notabilis Crib Exhibition, choirs and even a drama production, “Scrooged”.
12. Christmas Village 2017
10 December, Ghammieri Farm, Luqa
Visit Ghammieri farm as it turns into a Christmas Village event including mass, choir singing, crib exhibition, photos with Santa and various farm animals, pony and donkey rides, live entertainment and Christmas treats.
13. The Elves Christmas Factory
15-19 December, Ghaqda Talent Dingli, Dingli
Visit the Elves’ Christmas Factory to peek at Santa’s little helpers preparing gifts, taste festive treats, shop from several stalls and admire a Christmas tree made entirely out of recycled tires. The event will also include a local record-breaking filled Christmas stocking!
14. A Christmas Carol
16-17 December, Teatru Dar Centrali, Pieta
Treat the family to a 90-minute show by Ludwig Galea and Chiara singing the most renowned Maltese and English Christmas Carols.
15. Twinkle Tots Kids Under 3’s Christmas Party!
18 December, Twinkle Tots Activity Centre, St Pauls Bay
The very little ones also have an event especially for them. This Christmas special musical session will include Christmas songs, face painting, snacks and more to entertain under-threes!
16. Cinderella Christmas Pantomime
22 December – 02 January, MFCC, Ta’ Qali
This year, MADC presents the ultimate Christmas pantomime – CINDERELLA – directed by Chris Gatt. It comes complete with TWO dames: Jean Pierre Busuttil and Michael Mangion, and a host of other amazing characters to have you in stitches of laughter.
17. Alice In Wonderland Christmas Pantomime
23 December – 7 January, Manoel Theatre, Valletta
Masquerade brings you Alice in Wonderland, a Christmas pantomime directed by Anthony Bezzina and written by Malcolm Galea, the Dame, um, him/herself. This all-time favourite promises great entertainment for the whole family.
18. With Santa – Breakfast, Lunch, Tea Time
26 December, Yoyo Kids, Skyparks, Luqa
Enjoy a unique musical adventure show, “In Search of the Missiing Reindeer”, which features Santa, Rudolph, the elves, the Christmas Chef and Jack Frost! In addition, the children can meet Olaf and the Gingerbread Man, decorate their own gingerbread man for taking home together with a candy bag. Also included are the children’s snacks and tea and biscuits for the parents.
19. Milied Fil-Pjazza
2nd December (5pm) & 3rd December (9am), Misrah il-Knisja, Birzebbugia
This event is organised by a group of volunteers and features a live crib among other exhibits such as Mandy and amy dummy chain, Jojoangels Creations u Fashion Jewellery and more
