Here at BuzyMummy we love exploring different unique locations for our features. This month, in collaboration with Gaia and Nina Blog, M&J Photographic Studio and Monsoon Children, we visited the majestic Bibliotheca in Valletta as part of our feature about the benefits of reading to young children.
This is one of the last buildings built by the Knights of St John in Valletta. It was completed in 1796, only two years before the Order was expelled from the islands by the French Army under the great military genius, soon Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. Thankfully, the Bibliotheca was spared serious damage.
Unfortunately many of those who regularly visit the piazza have not ventured inside it and that is quite a shame, since as one can see in our photographs, it is quaintly stunning.
The Bibliotheca is located in one of Valletta‘s most important spaces, Piazza Regina, known for its cafes and bustling atmosphere. Unfortunately many of those who regularly visit the piazza have not ventured inside it and that is quite a shame, since as one can see in our photographs, it is quaintly stunning.
Today the Bibliotheca houses Malta’s most important archives, including those of the Knights of St John, which draw the attention of historians and scholars worldwide. The building was included on the Antiquities List of 1925. It is now scheduled as a Grade 1 national monument, and it is also listed on the National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands.
Our little ‘models’ loved the mini adventure, especially since they got to wear these exquisite outfits from Monsoon.
This lovely teal-coloured ‘Safina Dress’ is decorated with colourful embroidered flowers, birds and bunnies, accented with sparkling sequins and beads.
Gaia wears the gorgeous ‘Hallie jersey dress’ which is made from soft jersey and finished with a red ribbon belt, whilst Maya wears the ‘Anneballa Jersey Dress and Gilet Set’. All dresses, accessories and shoes are available from Monsoon Children.
Maya is wearing the ‘Hedgerow Border Skirt’ in navy from the girls collection at Monsoon Children, which is embroidered with floral and animal motifs and finished with a ric-rac trim. The hair-band, pink cardigan, white blouse and gold shoes are also available from Monsoon Children.
Gaia is adorable in this tweed 2-piece set, paired with pink sparkly shoes and hair-band, all from Monsoon Children.
The adorable coats worn by Gaia and Julia are fully lined for comfort and gently flare out from the waist into a princess silhouette. They are adorned with a pretty curved collar and cut-out metal flower button fastenings.
Maya wears the ‘Bella Boucle Coat’ in light blue which is designed with a detachable faux fur collar, a velvet bow and metal button fastenings. This cosy piece is fully lined for comfort, and is finished with side pocket details.
Special thanks to Monsoon Children for the stunning clothes, shoes and accessories, M&J Photos Studio International for the photography, Gaia and Nina Blog for styling and our little ‘models’ Maya, Gaia and Julia for being so well behaved. Thanks to the management at the Bibiliotheca, Valletta for allowing us the opportunity for this photographic feature.
